Creating Moods with Colour Balance

Photoshop's colour balance and saturation settings can be used to drastically change the mood of a picture.  Yellow tones create a warm, inviting feeling, while blues can give pictures a cool and lonely mood.  Lowering the saturation to mute colours can help to create a bleak, unsettling feel.  If the picture is portraying an outdoor theme, fog can also be created by using the softest brush setting and adding faint white blotches around the ground level.
